As I’ve grown into a young adult, I have grown to appreciate things way more than I ever did as a child. From my experience, you don’t realize how truly grateful you are until you’re able to see the world for yourself. One of those many things is how blessed I am to have such wonderful parents. From day one I have always had the most supportive and loving parents I could ever ask for. As a young child, my parents were always putting me in sports programs, dragging me to church, and sitting down every night to make sure I did my homework. They were always there whether it was to put me in my place or be a shoulder to cry on. I know I’m biased, but I truly believe I have the best parents out there. Here are the top three reasons why I am so thankful for my rents.
1. Thank you for your involvement in my life.
First I want to think you for always being there (even though I didn’t always want you to be). As soon as I was able to walk and talk my parents began sending me to camps and putting me into sports programs. I was always encouraged to try out for teams and gain every possible experience I could, even if it didn’t work out. Thanks for always coming to those boring elementary school plays that no one actually wanted attend. Thanks for making me study and questioning me before every big test, just to make sure I’d get a good grade. Thank you for attending every sporting event and for allowing me to be involved in anything, no matter the costs. Thanks for setting boundaries and not letting me do whatever I wanted (even though I back-talked you and pitched a fit every time). Thank you for pushing me to reach higher and be the best possible version of myself.
2. Thank you for leading me to Christ.
Thank you for instilling Jesus into my heart and life at such a young age. I know I didn’t always love waking up at the crack of dawn to go to church as a child, but I’m so grateful that you were there to encourage it. I want to thank you for being great examples and sharing your faith and love for Jesus with me. Without your support I probably wouldn’t know the love of my Lord and Savior, and for that I am truly indebted.
3. Thank you for your unconditional love.
Thank you for loving me through my stubbornness and all the sass. A big thanks for not strangling my teenage-self, although God knows I made it extremely difficult. Thank you for expressing your love for me even when I wasn’t there to appreciate it, nor deserved it. No matter the day or the stress, there was never a question of whether you loved me or not. Not very child gets the opportunity to be loved the way that you have both loved me.
Being your daughter is the best gift I have ever been given. I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done and continue to do for me. Your love and support never go unnoticed, even when my feelings aren’t expressed.
