While many students during the month of December are either living in Stroz or attending the numerous Christmas-themed parties, I’ve branched out to find a little piece of Christmas heaven that many students in Tallahassee probably don’t even know about. This Christmas heaven is only 45 minutes away in downtown Thomasville, Georgia. The people of Thomasville throw an annual Victorian Christmas festival, shutting down all the streets in downtown for people to freely walk and enjoy the many stands set up along the streets or stopping in the many shops downtown Thomasville has to offer.
Personally, I’ve never been to Thomasville, but wow do they have good taste in clothes, if you were planning to make a trip I would definitely recommend checking out the uncountable boutiques downtown; I know that I will be making more trips just to shop their collection of clothes.
Aside from the trendy boutiques one of my favorite things was all the little stands set up on the sides of the street; people were selling hot chocolate, freshly popped popcorn, corn on the cob, chili, fried Oreo’s, honestly anything your heart would want or desire.
While I was distracted by the cute boutiques and delicious food one thing that touched my heart was that the Thomasville Human Society was doing $25 adoptions including cats and dogs. It was a chance for people to take home a furry friend, or make a donation to help out the human society and the animals around the holidays.
I can honestly say that I will return to Thomasville next year for their annual Victorian Christmas festival, and bring more friends along to experience the small town hospitality and all the great food, boutiques and lights that come with it.
