As a new set of freshmen move into my old dorm hall, I am flooded with so many wonderful memories from my freshmen year of college. I remember being so nervous when finally getting to meet my roommates in person after swapping only a handful of texts with them over the summer. I really find myself missing my freshmen dorm as I move into a new dorm hall without my old roommates. Though we won't be able to live together and be the ultimate roommate squad, I love my first roommates with all my heart. So in honor of upperclassmen move-in this week, I wrote up a little something I'd like y'all to know.
Rose, thanks for leaving me, wow. But in all seriousness, I am so proud of you for making it into NC State's science program and I wish you many full nights of sleep for the long semester ahead. I will miss coming up with the most ridiculous ideas and going through with them (as seen on the Crazy Stuff List). It'll be little less fun at Delta Chi without you for sure. I will miss all of the amazing artwork you produce; you have more artistic talent in your pinky then I do in my whole body. Please make a new Wii Snoop Dogg for you room -- it would warm my heart. I'll give it my all to take of Cole this fall and make sure we live to see graduation in one piece. Best of luck at NC State! (Let us visit you!)
Nicole, how will I ever get hype to go out without my personal DJ spitting straight fire? Whether it's ranting about how much we hate Donald Trump or going to concerts on Monday nights, you always find something exciting and funny to fill the empty time between classes. I'm really going to miss all the hilarious Facebook posts from your Grandpa and your mom calling me out on my Diet Coke addiction. Hopefully we'll have a poli sci class at the same time so I can at least be graced with your glorious presence. Let's go to CookOut soon.
Dara, you are my rock, but like, a really pretty rock. You were one of the first people I met at UNCW and easily became one of the most loved. I loved how we had late-night conversations about deep meaning things like karma and what it means to be the best person. You are one of the most motivating young women I have ever met and you inspire me to be my authentic self 100 percent of the time. Thank you for always believing in me, especially when I didn't want to believe in myself. You kept me grounded which is saying something since my head is always in the clouds.
Thank you, roomies, for making me feel so loved and included my freshmen year. I don't think I would've had any fun without you guys at my side. I'm so lucky I get to call you my roommates as well as close friends. I truly love each of you and I hope this next year brings you the most amazing memories. If you see me in the halls, just know that I "forgot my piece of paper."
