I really, really love movies, and try to watch them as often as I can. For any of you who are sitting there thinking, hmmm, what should I watch next, look no further. Below is a list of movies that I recommend for everyone.
1. "Leon: The Professional"
This is one of my all time favorites. A mysterious hitman takes in a 12 year old Matilda (who has great style) and shows her the ropes of killing people, while also loving and taking care of her.
2. "The Shining"
This is definitely not your typical scary movie. The cinematography is incredible (props to Kubrick) and the acting is brilliant. This movie is so suspenseful and at times very disturbing.
3. "She's the Man"
This movie is so stupid, but seriously so hilarious. When Amanda Bynes's character pretends to be a man so she can play soccer, the awkwardness of her lie will have you rolling on the floor laughing.
4. "Seven"
In a dark, dirty, rainy city a lot could happen, including brutal crimes based on the seven deadly sins. Who is the killer and who will be next?
5. "Inglorious Bastards"
Jewish American soldiers, with the help of others, plot against Nazi Germany leaders. In an attempt to kill Hitler, a lot could go wrong. This is probably my favorite Tarantino film.
6. "Spirited Away"
Miyazaki truly knows how to create a masterpiece. This movie tells the story of a young girl, Chihiro, who gets sucked into a fantasy world full of spirits and monsters. Chihiro starts working at a bathhouse but ultimately has to find a way to save her parents and go home. At times lovely, and also very creepy, this movie will not disappoint.
7. "True Romance"
Right after meeting Alabama, Clarence knows she's the girl for him. They get married, and Clarence ends up stealing cocaine from Alabama's old pimp. They go to Hollywood to try and sell it, but things quickly escalate. This movie is exciting and very cool.
8. "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"
Hunter S. Thompson is one wild, crazed journalist. When him and his attorney go on a mescaline, ether driven binge through Las Vegas, the madness ensues. This movie is so insane, colorful, and weird you have to love it.
9. "Beetlejuice"
This movie is definitely odd and outlandish but a great time. When a young couple dies, and become ghosts, they have to find a way to get rid of the terrible family trying to move into their house. The only one who understands is Lydia Deets, a young emotional goth girl. When Betelgeuse is asked for help, things get severely strange.
10. "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou"
Bill Murray plays Steve Zissou, and oceanographer who assembles a crew to find the fish that killed his friend. On board is a man that may even be his own son. Wes Anderson is known for his aesthetics and color schemes and doesn't hold back on this film.
11. "American Beauty"
This movie is a little creepy, alright a lot creepy, but there's something about Kevin Spacey's character that is super likable even though he's trying to hook up with his daughter's friend. You just have to watch and see.
Now go watch all these movies, right now! Just kidding, but seriously consider one for your next movie night because you won't regret it!
