According to Merriam-Webster, cancer is a series of disease caused by cells that are abnormal and can spread to one or many parts of the body.
Cancer is something horrible that happens to many people. It happened to my family during the beginning of my senior year of high school.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was very hard for her and for my family to deal with. The doctors got it early, which I am extremely thankful for, but she still had many complications that came from it. The point of this is that my mother is a very strong woman.
I don’t know how she did it, but my mom is basically super mom. She’s amazing. She still found time to care for us even when she was sick. We helped her out as much as we could, but she was still there cooking dinner and doing dishes for us even when she was nauseous or tired. We told her to rest and let us do the work, but she is very stubborn like that. She is amazing.
My mom has given my siblings and me nothing but love. She cares for us immensely. She was the one that was there wiping my tears away even though she was the one that was sick. I am constantly amazed the love and strength that she has every day. I am so thankful for her all the time and I thank God that she’s still with us.
She is cancer free now, but she still deals with complications from it today. I am very thankful that her cancer is gone, though. I feel guilty for moving two hours away to go to college, but I know she wanted me to go and create a great future for myself.
So to my mommy:
I love you so very much. Thank you for always being there for Tori, Jon, Dad, and me. You are an amazing woman and I don’t know how you do what you do. You constantly amaze me and I miss you even when I am only two hours away. You cared for us when it should have been us caring for you. You have never given up hope and you are so strong. I just want you to know how thankful I am for everything.
I love you so much and you will always be my hero.
Much love,
Becca
