All the things I promise to my dearest little.

My Lovely Little

Lovely Little,

Let me just tell you that I absolutely cannot wait to find out who you are! Meeting you has been something I’ve been looking forward to for awhile now. I think back to almost a year ago when I became a little myself. That day was filled with so many emotions. Excitement and nervousness, yet also pure happiness, that I finally got a big who I knew was going to love me as much as I loved her. You’re going to experience this day soon, and I want you to know that it’s okay to feel all of these emotions too, because I promise you that you will. There are a few other things I want to promise you, before we start this journey together as big and little.

I will be your friend. I will be the best lunch date, most fun nail date, and certainly the greatest adventure buddy you will ever have. I can’t wait for the memories that we are going to make, starting on the day I get to wrap you in my arms and call you my little forever.

I will, occasionally, be your “mom.” I promise that I will be there to support you and have your back on anything and everything you need me to. I will do my best to give you the best advice I can give, and I hope that you will take it knowing that it comes from my heart. I will try my absolutely hardest to make your bad days a little easier, and your next four years here a little sweeter.

I will be here for you unconditionally. Whether it’s because you need a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to spend the day with, I’m here for you always. You are just beginning an amazing journey and I am so proud that I get to be part of it. These next four years are going to be full of so many wonderful experiences, and I cannot wait to see where it takes the two of us.

Little, thank you so much for so much already. You have no idea what you have already blessed me with. I could not be more ready to welcome you into our family and make the everlasting promise of being your big sister. I already know that you are perfect in every way imaginable, and I am counting down the days until I get to find out who you are.

Love always,

Big

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
