If any of you reading this are like me, then your relationship with your younger brother hasn't been an easy walk in the park.
I'm sorry for that time (many times actually) that I dressed you up in all my little dresses and made you my life-sized Barbie doll. Although it made for a really great home video, I'm sorry that I made you come out in my dresses and dance in front of Mom and Dad. I now know why we butt heads so often, the fact that you're a butthead also contributes to that, but I'll take some of the blame.
Remember that one time we were on vacation and we thought playing the Slug Bug game was a good idea? I'm sorry about that it escalated so quickly and I punched you really hard in the face.
I will not apologize though for all those nights in high school where we screamed our faces off at each other because you played your video games really loud outside my bedroom. You should actually apologize for that.
All those times Mom had to call a family meeting and yell at us because we were so mean to each other? We should probably thank her for all those meetings because they paid off in the end. She always tried to teach us that family is everything and that someday we were going to need each other.
There were so many moments that I wished I was an only child, to be honest. But since going to college, there are so many more moments that outweigh those bad fights. I could not be prouder of who you're becoming. All those times where we could just look at each other and know exactly what each other was thinking. All those times when Dad stubbed his toe then cussed for about five minutes straight; we would laugh so hard, but it would be the laugh where it was silent and we had to be quiet.
Now that you're about to embark on such an incredible journey, I want you to know some things:
- I love you so much.
- You've turned into someone I want to brag about and to show people how proud I am of you.
- Whenever I hug you, whether I'm trying to annoy you or leaving to go back to school, just know that it means the world to me.
- Aside from Mom and Dad, I'm your biggest fan and supporter. I want you to succeed in life more than anyone in this world!
- Please bring me home a really awesome girl that could potentially be my sister-in-law. Come on, I had to deal with you my whole life; I need a sister-friend. (No pressure though.)
- Thank you for liking my boyfriend, since the topic of significant others was brought up.
Lastly, I want you to always be confident in yourself (not that you aren't already cocky enough). Be confident in the fact that you're an amazing human being and I'm so blessed to be your older sister. Continue to make us all laugh and continue to believe in you. I can't wait to see what your life becomes and I can't wait to be a part of it.
I love you!
For everyone reading this, one of my life goals was getting my little brother to actually like me. I can officially say that I have succeeded.
