To The Transgender Community, I Support You

According to TIME.com, "The New York Times reported that the Department of Health and Human Services was circulating a memo proposing that gender be defined as an immutable biological condition determined by a person's sex organs at birth. The proposal would define sex as either male or female, and any dispute about one's sex would have to be clarified through genetic testing, according to the Times' account of the memo."

To The Transgender community:

The Trump Administration is trying to erase everything Obama has done for you and everyone in the LGBT community when he was in office.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. You have every right to be happy, safe, and live the way you should. No one, and I mean NO ONE, should tell you who or what you should be, or what you should do to your body.

This is heartbreaking for myself as well because I have friends who are transgender, and are happy for being who they truly are after their transition. I can't imagine how it feels to be forced to conform and be what society wants me to be, nor being forced to be trapped in a body that is different from who I am inside.

This world is getting more dangerous everywhere for everyone by the day, and causing members of the community to either hide who they are to people close to them, or commit suicide because they are not safe in this world. No one should go through this.

I don't want to hear any more LGBT suicides in news reports anymore. I don't want to read any posts on social media saying "Rest in Peace ______. We will miss you."

We all have the right to live, love, and be who we are in this world. We have one life and should live it in the way we want to. I want all of you to know that I hear you. Just know that I am on your side, and I am fighting for you to continue living the way you should. I want all of you to continue fighting, and continue to let your voice be heard. Advocate, educate, and work hard to show right from wrong.

If you need a shoulder to lean on, someone to listen to your frustrations, I am here to lend an ear to all of you. Leave a comment on this article, and I will read, understand, and answer.

Sincerely,

Amber

A member of the LGBT community

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
