Dear Target,
What would us basic college girls do without you, Target? From your ever-so taunting dollar section at the forefront of your store, the home section where I seem to find hundreds of things I need, your clothing section where I just have to buy one of everything, your swimsuits that are to die for, or just for my everyday wants and needs, I don’t think I’d be able to survive without you. I can never walk into your store without wanting to spend my entire paycheck from last week. I try and make myself stick to going to just the sections in the store I need to, but somehow I just end up wandering around the store and spending four hundred times the amount of money I would have. Target, you are my best friend and my worst mistake. My credit card hates you, but my closet and dorm room love you.
Just this past week, I decided to make the trek into the Target in my town because I needed to buy some mascara. The whole drive there, I kept telling myself, “Just go to the makeup section, nowhere else.” “One aisle, and that’s it.” Ha. I should have known, I have no willpower when it comes to shopping or Target in general.
When I walked into the store, of course, the first place I went was the dollar section. Then I wandered through the clothing aisles and the clearance section, which is my favorite section in the world. Then I went to the ever-so-famous home section in Target, where I wanted to buy every single item on the shelves. Finally, I made my way to the makeup section, where of course I bought more than just the mascara I needed, but hey, it’s Target so it’s okay.
Whether you are an aspiring soccer mom who does all her family’s shopping at Target, a typical trendsetter that you see buying all the cutest clothes from Target, or just a typical college girl like me that can’t resist a single aisle, no one can resist you, Target. You’ve taken the hearts of many, mine included. My sense of ‘adultness’ and saving money goes completely out the window whenever I’m in the store. I mean I totally need that super cute rug for my future home 10 years down the line. Or I think that today is the perfect time to redecorate my entire bathroom because why not, everything is here.
Target, I hope you cherish my business as much as I cherish your store. From the hearts of many college girls, moms, teenagers, or just a random daily customer, we thank you. Thank you for being the picture perfect store, the one that gives us the imagination and creativity in our lives to want to keep coming back to redecorate, revamp our closet, or refill our refrigerator.
Sincerely,
A typical college girl
