Don’t get me wrong. I don’t HATE Taylor Swift, but I can definitely tell you that I do not count myself as a fan. Whether she’s posting pictures of her cats, announcing a tour date or her name pops up about relationship drama (which is a pretty normal occurrence), my girlfriend is obsessed with it. She has a whole wall covered in nothing but Taylor Swift memorabilia and posters, and that’s fine.
What my issue stems from is the fact that she feels the need to tell me about all things Taylor. As if I need to stay up to date on what’s going on in her life. I don’t. I don’t care about her life or the drama that surrounds it.
Half the time I feel as if she cares more about this 28 year old woman than me. I mean come on. Really? You honestly care more about a singer that just looks at you as a number in her bank account than the man that wants to provide for you and care for you? It just doesn’t seem orthodox to me.
“Swifties”, as they like to be called, y’all about all things Taylor Swift. Their entire lives revolve around this woman and possibly having the chance to meet her. Now I’m not going to bash for wanting to meet your heroes because let’s be honest, meeting Harrison Ford would be pretty amazing, but these fans are absolutely crazy about it.
They have group chats with one another talking about her and what she’s doing and how her cats are. They talk about her last show and how she looked amazing. They talk about getting into the REP Room on this tour and how it’s an unfair system and how Taylor needs to have more people in the room.
No.
I’m not here for it.
People need to understand that there is absolutely no point in spending your days worrying about what a multi-million dollar artist is doing. She’s not going to be around forever, and you need to realize that.
