Let me apologize in advance...

An Open Letter To My Future Husband
Samantha Pointon

To My Future Husband,

I know I have not officially met you yet, but that’s OK, because I know I will one day. You know we might have actually crossed paths before, but we just don’t know it yet. Either way, I wanted to take a moment and write this letter to you. I know that whoever you are, I’m going to work hard everyday to show you how much I love you and care for you.

I know it's not going to be easy to deal with me sometimes because I can have my mood swings, and for that I’m going to apologize in advance; please forgive me. We all have our flaws and I am aware of some of mine. I also want to apologize for my stubbornness, because I know I will get stubborn - it’s in my family. I also can’t tell you that we aren’t going to fight, because who doesn’t fight in a relationship? What I can tell you, is that when we fight, I will just need time to cool off and time to think because, again, I told you I was going to work hard everyday to show you how much I love you and one fight is not going to change that fact.

There are a few things that I need to confess to you as well. I have some weird obsessions that I cannot live without and I just need to get them out there. For one, I am completely obsessed with elephants and I will, again, have to apologize in advance for gushing over every elephant shaped thing I see, because I know I will. I know this one might not be that weird as the next. but I want to be honest with you up front.

Another thing I am obsessed with is anything to do with Harry Potter. I mean you will definitely know about this one when we are at our wedding. I can’t apologize for having a Harry Potter-themed wedding because it is something I have dreamt of for awhile. What I will apologize for is how controlling I will be when it comes down to all the details. When we say our vows, I know they will make me cry, but they will be happy tears, I promise.

The last thing I have to confess as one of my obsessions is that I am a complete dog person. I know you have probably meet dog people before, but I am a diehard dog lover, and if I could rescue all the dogs in the shelters, I swear I would. I need you to know that at one time in our lives, we will have a dog in the house and I will probably have to say that more than one time - we will have a dog. I’m sorry; I can’t help myself when it comes to dogs.

Now that I have told you a couple of the things that I can’t live without, I have to promise a couple of things to you as well because every relationship is about compromise right? I promise that I won’t get mad at you for the little things, at least I will try not to, because after all, I did tell you I was stubborn. I’m working at that trait of mine, by the way. I also promise to take an interest in what you like doing; whether that is playing video games, sports or anything else. The only thing I ask you is to give me time to like what you do, and I will do the same with you with my interests.

The last couple of things that I want to tell you are that I have a good heart, a pure heart, and I am giving all of it to you. I believe you are doing the same with yours, which is why I believe this relationship will work out. Also, communication is going to be the key to work everything out in this. I know I can talk a lot at times, but I’m also a good listener, don’t forget that.

I promise to love you every day of my life that we are together, through thick and thin, through the ups and downs, and through the good and bad. With that being said, I look forward to that day we officially meet.

Love,

Your Future Wife

XOXOXOX

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
