There's A Las Vegas You Actually Don't Know About

Good thing I'll be going back here in a month.

There's A Las Vegas You Actually Don't Know About

Ahh, Las Vegas. The City of Sins. It is one of those places every 21 year old dreams on going to, and just like week, I got my chance to do so. How was it, you ask? Well, I guess I'll use 500 words to describe it to you.

In March, I qualified for a brand new style of golf tournament called the Major Series of Putting. Yes, a tournament dedicated to straight putting. The MSOP stadium was built on temporary ground that was just behind Planet Hollywood, and although I didn't perform the way I expected, I still had all of Las Vegas to explore.

Not even a month ago, the biggest shooting massacre in U.S. history happened on the Las Vegas Strip at Mandalay Bay, very close to where I was staying during the event. However, when you go to Vegas for the first time, it doesn't feel like a place of fear, but more of a place to come to get away to leave your comfort zone and see where your luck takes you.

Coming from Orlando, one of the biggest tourist destinations in all of the world, I had high expectations going into the city of sins, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The casinos, the hotels, the hospitality, the atmosphere, it's everything you would expect from Vegas. The "Las Vegas Strong" catch phrase all over the city had me feel like there was an actual sense of community, and it was quite touching coming from Orlando when we had a huge shooting massacre not so long ago.

I got the chance to visit most of the hotels that were there, my favorite being Cesar's Palace. The amount of space this hotel takes up is absolutely mind boggling. It felt like as if the entire University of Central Florida could have been put on the grounds of this hotel property. The Bellagio was another one of my favorites, with the huge water fountains dancing the night time, and it just put you in awe of what man can accomplish with just a little bit of creativity and a little pond of water.

However, the thing that honestly surprised me is the amount of casinos that are actually in Vegas. I knew there were going to be a lot of gambling opportunities, but dear lord, I could have sworn there were more casinos than grocery stores on the Las Vegas Strip. Even going down to Old Vegas on Freemont Street the theme stayed exactly the same, casinos everywhere, big lights, and it's all there waiting for you to press your luck against the odds.

I loved my time in Vegas even though I didn't see everything I wanted to, and I get to go back there in exactly a month from now. This is the city I could definitely see myself living in the near future as everything I could want in a city is in Vegas. It's definitely a bucket list destination, and I highly recommend going there if you can.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
