My Favorite Restaurants

Yummy places you should try!

Need a good place to eat tonight? Here's a list of some of my favorites!

1. IHOP

Whether I'm in a breakfast mood or not, IHOP is my absolute favorite restaurant. I love the waffles with fruit and whipped cream on top, and the meaty chicken tenders dipped in honey mustard! For more of a traditional supper, my go-to meal is the steak tips! Steak at a pancake house?! Yes. Try them. I'd take them over any steak from an actual steakhouse.

2. Cracker Barrel

As if the down-home, cozy country atmosphere isn't enough (and the opportunity to shop while you wait on your food!), the food is delicious. I (unashamedly) get the same meal every time I go. My order is always the grilled chicken tenderloins with sides of cole slaw (theee best!), cooked sweet baby carrots, and mashed potatoes. And don't forget the amazing blackberry jam and biscuits! (Little tip: if you don't want the biscuits or the cornbread with the meal, my mom always asks for seared sourdough bread... not on the menu but they understand!)

3. Panera Bread

This is a more recent addition to my favorites list, but it definitely has earned its spot! Broccoli cheddar soup is wonderful. But broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl?! A bowl you can eat? Unheard of! It is delicious! Any bread lover will find something to satisfy their cravings here! Equipped with fresh salads, sandwiches, and baked goods, Panera is the place to be!

4. Papa John's

This pizza place is tied with the next restaurant listed as my favorite pizza place. I'm a traditionalist: pepperoni every time. But Papa John's crispy but doughy crust, surplus of cheese, and arguably-better-than-the-pizza-itself garlic butter makes each bite a memorable experience. (I'm just talking about pizza, I know, I know... but when food is good, it is an experience!)

5. Pizza King

Not too many people know about or have tried Pizza King. If you are one of those people, you are definitely missing out! The cool thing about their pizza is that it is not cut in the usual triangle slices. Instead, it's cut into tiny squares. And their pepperoni is not the normal circular entities. They're tiny cubes and oh so delicious. They even can replace the typical pizza sauce with barbecue sauce, and it is definitely a worthwhile trade! They also have great bread sticks brushed with dill butter!!

These are just a couple of my favorites... what are yours?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
