My Farewell And Opinion On The Legacy Of President Obama

I will miss Obama, but that does not mean I am proud of what he is leaving behind as an example for the democratic party

My Farewell And Opinion On The Legacy Of President Obama
business insider

By the time this article is published Obama will have given his farewell address to the nation and be less than one week away from leaving the white house as our president. While I am sad to see him go I feel this is only because of what is replacing him. While I will be the first to say I voted for Obama that was similar to this election a lesser of two evil's. During his first campaign I was unable to vote however If someone asked who I would vote for he would have been my choice that year as well. Despite that being said I have a lot to say on Obama's so called "legacy" he seems so proud of.

Sadly even while I voted for him in 2012 that was only because the opposing democratic candidate was Hillary Clinton (again), and the opposing republican candidate was Mitt Romney. Both Clinton and Romney were completely out of the question as realistic choices for someone with my world view, as both have proven track records of lying and generally betraying the best interests of the American people. Funny how Clinton was not well liked then, and somehow magically she thinks that would change four years later? Laughable really, well until she lost in 2016 then it turned pathetic. I consider it proof of her ignorance of what the average American needs. Sadly because of that mistake she lost the nomination to a crazy celebrity who now surrounds himself the biggest wall street insiders and lobbyists.

Although again to be fair even if Clinton had won the outcome would be the same, difference being they would call themselves "democrats" like that means something anymore. Obama will be the last true democratic president America will ever have. Granted he has not even done that great of a job so calling him a democrat is almost to nice. Granted eight years of republican gridlock has hindered him he still lacks enthusiasm for the biggest threats facing our nation today. Awarded a peace prize in 2009 and yet ends his presidency in 2016 while bombing seven different countries, not to mention the other countries around the world where American soldiers are fighting on the ground. For a man who ran on a anti war platform you would imagine he would bomb less not more. You would also imagine a real democrat would fight tooth and nail for clean drinking water. That being said Flint Michigan is still without clean drinking water. In fact over 41 out of all 50 states reported to have contaminated water, the worst states being Oklahoma, Michigan, and South Carolina where new stories tend to pop up daily. Wall street is making a killing right now with unseen profits yet over 45 million Americans live below the poverty line.

So yes when someone asks if I miss Obama I will reply with a YES, that being said if they were to ask if I am proud or impressed by his "legacy" I would reply with a definite NO.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
