My European Adventure

The coolest adventure of my life.

My European Adventure
Jordan Clouthier

Most people dream of being able to travel to different countries and different parts of the world. I, on the other hand, got one of the best opportunities in the world and was able to travel to Europe in the summer of 2014, right before my senior year of high school.

My Girl Scout troop was invited along with two other troops in America to go over and visit two girl scout centers. My troop spent so much time fundraising and coming up with different way to fundraise for the trip.

On July 2, 2014, we were off on one of the greatest adventures of my life.

We were on our way to London, Paris, Switzerland, and Rome.

London was very beautiful. It had really beautiful buildings, and the architecture was out of this world. Every places seemed like its own individual town.

We spent about five days in London before we took an underground train to Paris! On the morning we were heading to Paris, we had to get up extra early to pack. Well, let's just say my friends and I never heard the alarm. About five minutes before we had to leave, our leaders were banging on the door to get us up. We had to shove everything we had into our suitcases as fast as we could and run onto the bus so that we wouldn't miss our train. I wish I had a picture of that.

When we got to Paris, we weren't prepared for it to be pouring rain. The good thing with that was that we got to relax for a little before we did more touring.

It rained most of the time while we were in Paris. That didn't stop us from making amazing memories.

We took one of the mornings it wasn't raining before we did some touring.

Seeing the Eiffel tower was one of the coolest things ever! The view was amazing, and the closer you get, the more crowded it gets.

It rained during the day, but at night, when we actually went in the Eiffel Tower, it was beautiful!

Every night at 11 p.m., for 10 minutes, they put lights on the tower.

This is the outside of the Louvre. The structure of the building was absolutely amazing!

So much art to look at. So many portraits that probably took moths to paint.

One thing for sure was that the sculptures of the gods were absolutely huge! Another thing that I found interesting about being over in Europe was that most of their art and sculptures had some form of nudity.

Being in so many places was an amazing thing! We were so tired, yet the adventure wasn't over just yet.

After our journey in Paris was over, we moved on to Switzerland, which was probably my favorite place to visit while we were over in Europe. It was quiet and relaxing.

It was a long walk but it was so peaceful. Good thing it wasn't pouring while we were walking through the woods.

Later on while we were in Switzerland we took a boat over to an island so that we could go up Mount Pilatus.

We did so much more in Switzerland, but our last spot on this amazing journey was us heading to Rome! It was the warmest destination on our trip. It was so sunny and it didn't really rain. I wish that we would have gotten to spend more time there.

With only days left, we were ready to go home, but not before we got to see the Coliseum!

We all got to meet the host of cupcake wars!

We also saw The Vatican, where the pope lives, and so much more of the art that is over there.

I got to spend 14 days in an amazing continent! I would do this trip all over again with the same people who I went with. The experience was amazing and I'm so glad that I was able to go on this adventure. I can't wait to explore more of the world one day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
