There are a lot of things that make someone your best friend. It could be the one you know you can call at 2 a.m. if you need something. Maybe it's someone who is always ready to go get some lunch and listen to you rant, but no friend is like your childhood best friend. Now, this is the person you have known since you were 6 years old and you probably tried eating crayons or a glue stick or two together. There is something special about childhood friends. I think it's just because they were the ones who knew everything about you before you started caring about the world and what people thought. They loved every piece of you and would even share their rice crispy treat and a sip of their Capri sun with you.
I think it's safe to say not a lot of people's childhood best friend is still their number one guy or gal to date, but there is something you can't replace about them. They are the ones who could have walked into your house and called your parents mom and dad. They could go straight to the food pantry and know exactly where you hide your favorite chips from your brother. Not to mention where the remote was to turn on both of your favorite show. So, this one is for you guys. For the friends who knew it all, especially how to call you their best friend. For that I say thank you.
Thank you for the late night visits that were full of laughter. Thank you for sharing all your favorite snacks with me. Thank you for helping me clean my room so we could hang out sooner. But, most of all, thank you for being my other half. Sure, we grew apart. We have other friends and other interests. At the end of the day that's okay because you'll always be my person. The person I told about my first crush. The person I would call off of my mom’s phone to ask about your day when texting wasn't even a thing. You are all that and so much more and I couldn't be more thankful for everything you've taught me. You'll always have a friend in me, because let's face it, you'll always have a bond with someone you tried to eat crayons with.
