Since I just turned 20, I decided to make a list of my 30 by 30! Some practical, some crazy, but all things I want to do before I turn 30!
1. Get my novel published
It’s been finished for three years, but I do not have the guts to send it anywhere, but I will in the next 10 years.
2. Go to Las Vegas
What a cliché thing to say when I am just one year away from being 21, but I do not want to go there to only drink and gamble. I have genuinely wanted to go to Vegas for a long time now. I really like weird touristy things…
3. Learn how to drive a manual car
Mainly because I never want to get into a situation where I could not drive the car if I had to do so!
4. Not focus on getting married…yet.
Someday, though!
5. But focus on my career
Yup. I am that person that has chosen career over family. But hey, not forever, just until I am settled in my career.
6. Get my passport
I want to travel outside of the US so badly, but I need a passport to do so. This is a priority to do within the next year or so!
7. Not worry about the family members that do not want to be in my life
Their loss, right?
8. Become a certified Jazzercise instructor
I want to be a Jazzercise instructor so badly, mainly because it looks so fun and it is something good for your body!
9. Re-read some classics I read in high school and actually enjoy them
I enjoy reading immensely and I want to go back and read all of the books I read in high school and try to understand and enjoy them more.
10. Not feel the need to go to a bar every weekend
There is nothing wrong with going out and having a good time, but getting drunk every weekend just isn’t my style.
11. Be happy with my body, even if that doesn’t include my goal weight
I need to stop focusing on the number on the scale and just accept that my body is beautiful no matter what that number says.
12. Be more spontaneous
I am very predicable and I live by a schedule. I hate when my schedule gets messed up but I need to learn to drop the schedule once and while and do something that wasn’t in the plan.
13. Learn how to control my anxiety
I have dealt with anxiety my entire life, but I have had a hard time controlling it. I want to learn how to control my anxiety without medication.
14. Go to Bora Bora
Random, I know, but it is so beautiful and I would love to stay in one of the huts that are on the water.
15. Accept that who I am in love with probably will never love me back
Or confess my love to her. Whatever comes first. In all seriousness, though, this is a big one. I have to move on from my fantasy of her loving me. She doesn’t even know I like her and I need to move on and perhaps meet someone else that is actually into girls.
16. Audition for something completely random, like a Broadway show or a movie in Hollywood
Even though I will most likely be cut the second I walk into the room, I think it would be fun to go to a big audition.
17. Come to terms with the fact that I will never be tall enough to be a Rockette
Very sad, I know. From the first time I saw the Rockettes live when I was 6, I knew I wanted to be one of them. Sadly, though, I am only 5’4 and my kick isn’t quite eye high.
18. Save money
Let's face it, I am a big spender. As soon as I have money, I spend it on books or shoes (the necessities). But I need to start to save money for my future house, college loans, and a new car.
19. Buy another bunny
Because saving money doesn’t mean no bunnies! One is never enough when it comes to those cute little balls of fur
20. Watch less Netflix
I am addicted to Netflix. I love watching the travel channel or documentaries, but I want to experience things in real life and not just through my computer screen.
21. Go to Coachella
I know, basic. But it really does look like fun. I’d love the whole music festival scene anyways so attending Coachella would be a dream.
22. Do something silly
Like sing karaoke at a bar or something…I want to do something that is way out of my comfort zone.
23. Do volunteer work
I love to volunteer and give back to people in need. I want to make this a huge priority
24. Go white water rafting
Because I find it terrifying and thrilling all at once
25. Leave positive notes in bathrooms or other public places.
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time and it is so simple, yet so effective.
26. Learn to let go of material things
Less is more.
27. Not let my student loans go into default
This is easier said than done, I know, but I want to start making payments as soon as I graduate so I can avoid loan default. I do not want my student loans to stop me from doing things late in life.
28. Not compare my life to my friends
I am sure the majority of my friends will be married and settled down before they turn 30 and that is okay. I do not want to compare my life to theirs because everyone is different and has different priorities.
29. Move on from high school
I seriously loved high school. I think about it every day and I miss it so much. Even though I had great high school years, it is time to move on from them and stop living in the past. I will have far better experiences than I did in high school!
30. Actually complete some of the things on this list
What day is a better day to start than today?!
