I have two weeks until I leave for college, so I am making this list for all my friends in the same boat, but mostly to just remind myself I actually need to do this stuff.

1. See all my friends before they leave

Since we have spring rush at Furman, we don't have to go back early, but my other friends that go to Missouri schools do. So, before my friends rush off to do rush (I hate myself for that too), I need to see them off.

2. Cry about not seeing my dogs until Thanksgiving break

Not only will I not see my friends until then, my little babies and I will be separated until then as well. My dogs may bother me a lot, but they are amazing animals that are incredibly sweet.

3. Actually pack instead of just saying how much I need to

Some of my stuff was already packed since I didn't use it during the summer, but man my clothes are nowhere near packed.

4. Catch up on sleep

Once I get in the car for my 9-hour long journey, there is no good sleep in my near future until fall break. Naps will be a thing of the past for me as I attempt to make it through this semester alive.

5. Buy my books

I may have just remembered to do this while making this article, so glad I did this!

6. Enjoy my last few times I'm working my two jobs this summer

Those jobs have made my summer so much more fun with the people I work with and the people I interact with. So hit up Oakley in the Valley to see your home girl these next two weeks!

7. Go school supply shopping

I love school supplies for some reason and it's very therapeutic to find a notebook for 50 cents. So watch out Target, I'm coming for you!

8. Save as much money as I can

Despite my love for school supplies, I do need to save money to pay for college, so not too many notebooks for me.

9. Eat at my favorite places in St. Louis

Too bad I can't take Imo's, Donut Palace, or Mobil slushies with me, so I will just have to binge eat them while still at home.

10. Say goodbye to my family

Although they are annoying, they are my family so as our time together winds to an end, I'll spend time with them. Especially since my mom's birthday is the 13th, so I'm required to spend time with them then.

11. Finally, pack my car and say my last goodbyes

Whether it is to my new friends I made this summer or to my dogs, I'll have to say goodbye eventually and head on out one early morning. It'll be sad, but I'm happy to return back to Furman and begin a new year.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
