Musical Medicine: A Poem

The day has been long.

I'm physically worn.

I've embraced all the chaos.

I'm mentally torn.

The push and pull of the world

Can be too much to bear.

I've been stretched to my limits.

It's not always fair.

But in my bedroom is solace

In the form of a song.

The sweet melodies of music

Help to make right from what's wrong.

The sweet sounds of jazz

Raise the hairs on my arm.

The heavy bass of R&B

Matching the beats of my heart.

The stories of hip hop

Inspiring my goals.

And the pain of the blues

Healing my soul.

While laughter is great

And talking can help,

Music is my medicine,

A reflection of myself.
