Everyone loves music…right? I’d hope so. When it comes to music, I love finding new songs and artists that take me away from reality for a bit. I like listening to different styles. My music taste varies and I can pretty much listen to anything and enjoy it. So, I've decided to share my love of some music I’ve been listening to recently with you (in no particular order). Some old, some new; let’s dive in.

"Typical" by Mutemath: I saw Mutemath perform this while opening for twenty one pilots and it was amazing. The drummer is insane and the band gives off such an interactive and up beat performance. This song makes me feel as though I’m in a movie. It makes me feel a lot cooler than I really am and I’m perfectly fine with that.

"5,000,000,000 Years" by Whitaker: This one gives off the message of staying true to yourself. The message of not giving up all you’ve done to get to where you want to be, want to go, or what you want. If you ever feel like you’re not doing life right, give this song a listen.

"Indian Summer" by Jai Wolf: As stated in the title, this song is perfect for summer. It just has that overall summer vibe and beat to it. This is good for when driving down the road with the windows down on a summer evening. You just feel at peace.

"Swim" by Valley: One of my new favorites because it puts me in my feels (my happy feels). This one has a chorus that just gets you every time and you’re totally and utterly ok with it. This definitely puts me in a feel good, loving mood especially right after the chorus when the sound of the instruments just take over you all at once.

"Burn Fast" by Bryce Fox: To me, these lyrics are essentially stating the whole “like a bandaid, you just have to rip it off quick” and sometimes you just have to do what you gotta do. The feeling I get when listening to this is one that’s calming, yet serious. I know that probably doesn’t make any sense, but listen to the lyrics. You’ll understand.

"Rise Up" by Thomas Jack and Jasmine Thompson: Oooooh! This one makes me want to dance. I literally can’t stay still when listening to this. The beat is just an upbeat and positive song that you can’t help but enjoy!

"Capsize" by FRENSHIP ft. Emily Warren: Although I’m always a little early on the “oh my god” lyric, I can’t help but sing to this every single time I hear it. Do I know every lyric? Not yet, but that’s when I just make up my own.

"Alarm" by Anne-Marie: I feel like a straight up boss when I sing this at the top of my lungs in my car. She tells it like it is (to what sounds like a cheating ex). There’s so much attitude in her voice that I can’t help but try to match it. I’ll be honest, she definitely does it better than I and probably always will.

"All Time Low" by Jon Bellion: I like to listen to this one when I’m just chilling in my room before bed. The beat is gentle, yet interesting and makes you want to listen all the way through. As for the lyrics, it’s good to listen to when you aren’t feeling like yourself and you just need a good song to explain how you feel for you. Jon Bellion’s got you, I promise.

"Final Song" by MØ: I’ve been obsessed with this song for about a month now and still can listen to it everyday. The lyrics are catchy, the beat makes you want to move, and there’s some cool beat drops that make you feel everything at a time.

"Set On Fire" by Magic Giant: Compared to the others, this one is much more raw and simple, especially in the beginning. For me, this song is good when I might be feeling a little sad and need a little pick me up. I think, at least for me, it’s more of the beat that puts me in a good mood rather than the lyrics. Altogether, it’s magic.

"Woke The F*ck Up" by Jon Bellion: This song is so real. The lyrics are real, relatable, makes you think and makes you feel. All while having a really cool and catchy beat throughout. I think it’s simply genius when the lyrics are so pure and deep and the beat is too. Doesn’t happen as often as you may think, which is why this song is so special to me.

"Firestone" by Kygo ft. Conrad Sewell: One of the more recent songs I’ve found, I like it because it’s a nice and calm pace. This is good when just lounging around your house, by the pool, or even when you're with some friends just hanging out.

"A Piece of Bone" by Mantaraybryn: I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure how to pronounce this artist’ name, but I do know how to pronounce the song. It gives off the message of trying to do things as we should. Doing what we’re supposed to, in a sense, while battling with our inner-self.

"Please Don’t Go" by Joel Adams: The beginning of this song gives me chills every single time. During the entire song, start to finish, you can hear the meaning and emotion in the artist’s voice. When you can tell an artist is actually feeling what they’re saying, you know it’s good.

"Forces" by Japanese Wallpaper ft. Airling: Each time I listen to this song, I feel like I’m in a music video and the story is about a boy and a girl. The two are unsure where they stand with one another so, naturally, one goes to the beach to think while the other goes to a party to get their mind off of things (I’ve obviously put a lot of thought into this).

"Down in Flames" by Daughter Jack: At a much slower pace, this is a pretty dark and emotional song. Between the lyrics and playing of the piano, it’s more of a depressing/sad song, yet beautiful at the same time.

"Ooh" by Jon Bellion ft. Christianne Jensen: Happy, happy, happy. Start to finish, beat and lyrics, I simply love this song. It instantly puts me in a cheerful mood. Jon Bellion…I told you he’s got you. Any emotion you need to feel, he has a song for it.

"Peculiar" by Chef’Special: In addition to seeing Mutemath live, I also had the chance to see these guys as well! They too put on such an awesome performance, but this song definitely stuck out to me. The chorus is what gets me. A smile is put on my face as soon as the “woah’s” start. Such a happy song.

I hope you love these songs as much as I do and that they can help you. Enjoy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
