Good music never goes out of style. Whether you're happy or sad, you can find a song to match whatever mood in which you may find yourself. This has been a year filled with amazing music. Here are 10 bands you should start or continue listening to in the New Year.
1. Warpaint.
Any indie rock fan will love Warpaint. Their music is simply amazing. From softer, psychedelic songs to edgier songs, Warpaint has a little bit to offer everyone. Both "Love Is To Die" and "Ashes to Ashes" are two of my personal favorites, and are perfect for rainy days.
2. Tame Impala.
Tame Impala has become one of my favorite bands. With a psychedelic vibe, Tame Impala is perfect for those days where you just want to relax. Tame Impala combines meaningful lyrics with slow, melodious beats. Their most recently noted song, "Let It Happen," is absolutely amazing. Their other songs like "The Less I Know The Better" and "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" deserve listens as well.
3. Twenty One Pilots.
I recently became a huge fan of this band. Before I really sat down and listened to them, I admit that I didn't understand the hype surrounding them. After listening to a few songs, though, I was hooked. This band offers a little bit for every musical taste (except country, sorry). Most recently known for their song "Stressed Out," these guys have some other awesome songs that are worth a listen. My personal favorites include "Fairly Local,""Ode To Sleep," and "Guns For Hands."
4. The Neighbourhood.
Everyone knows the song "Sweater Weather," but if not you should really listen to it. The Neighbourhood also has other great songs that are perfect for a range of moods and attitudes. While some songs give off the Sweater Weather vibe, other songs have an edgier vibe to them. Their song "R.I.P. 2 My Youth" is currently one of my favorite songs. Other great songs include "Afraid" and "Daddy Issues."
5. James Bay.
While James Bay is a singer and not a band, he's totally worth listening to. If you haven't heard of him yet, then you're seriously missing out. He definitely puts off a indie rock/folk vibe. His song "Let It Go" is beautiful, but then again most of his songs are. While you should definitely listen to all of his music, I highly recommend "Scars" and "Hold Back The River."
6. The 1975.
I feel like The 1975 is a no-brainer when it comes to lists like these, but it surprises me how many people still don't know The 1975. The 1975 have been one of my favorite bands since their first album dropped. Their new song "Love Me" is amazing. While I understand they're not for everyone, everyone should listen to at least one of their songs before discrediting them. Some of their more classic songs are "Robbers," "Chocolate," and "Girls."
