Not only do I love their music, but their creativity too. They have inspired and influenced me as an artist and a person.

Some of my all time favorite bands include The Beatles, David Bowie and Pink Floyd. I want to discuss how these bands have influenced my life. Most importantly, I want to share the reasons why I absolutely love these musicians.

1. The Beatles

The Beatles became my favorite band when I was in middle school. I started listening to them because my mom and dad introduced me to them. When I went to visit my dad, he would always play their songs for me on his guitar. Eventually, I started singing all their songs and learning more about them and their art. My dad and I would always watch the 1968 animation, 'The Yellow Submarine'. The wonderful animation and beautiful music made this my favorite soundtrack. For my 16th birthday, my mom offered to get me a tattoo. She told me to think of something that had to mean because it would be there forever. I decided to get the Yellow Submarine on my right shoulder blade. Since I don't see my dad anymore, I wanted to get it for the good memories we had. As well as, because of my love for them. Plus, with having a tattoo I love, I always get cool gifts from my family, like a Yellow Submarine ornament and figurine. So awesome!

2. David Bowie

The first song I ever heard by David Bowie was around the same time as The Beatles. My mom had the 'Best of Bowie' CD in her car. When I heard the 1972 song, 'Space Oddity'. I cried... I felt so many emotions at once. I felt a sense of exploration, as well as loss. The part that always gets me is: "Tell my wife 'I love her very much.'" After that, I couldn't get enough of Bowie. After listening to that CD about 100 times, I finally discovered his other albums. My favorites are 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'. My second would probably be 'Hunky Dory'. After David Bowie died, I reflected on how his music has helped me in my life. Even the song, 'Rebel Rebel' helped me embrace my sexuality. For my 20th birthday, I plan on getting a David Bowie tattoo to continue my future sleeve of music.

3. Pink Floyd

I knew about Pink Floyd at a young age, but I didn't really listen to them all that much. But, during my senior year of high school, I listened to their album, 'The Wall', all the time. My ex-boyfriend and I would always jam out to that. Eventually, I moved to Pittsburgh, where I started listening to all their albums. Some of my favorites are 'The Dark Side of the Moon', 'The Division Bell' and, of course, 'The Wall'. What drew me to them was their great harmony and creative rhythms, as well as that bad ass synthesizer! Plus, I absolutely love their theme-based albums, like 'Animals'. I related and understood their profound lyrics, especially, "There's someone in my head, but it's not me," from the song, 'Brain Damage'. I was really struggling with my depression and anxiety at the time, so their music helped me escape to make sense of the world. Since then, I've been doing great; I even went to see Brit Floyd, the greatest Pink Floyd Tribute Show. They played and sang perfectly, along with having a laser light show, around video screen, and a giant inflatable pig. It was an unforgettable experience that I will remember forever!

These bands have influenced me throughout my life, and they mean a lot to me. Not only do I love their music, but their creativity too. They have inspired and influenced me as an artist and a person.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
