Why is music the one thing that I have always leaned on and depended on when times were at there hardest in my life? It's not only because of the beautiful melodies that are being played, or the unbelievable soul capturing vocals of your favorite song. It's because music is truly my soulmate. There are many reasons why I believe music is my soulmate, not only because I'm in love with every bit of it, but the way that it has affected my life and shaped my relationships with people is aw-inspiring.

1. Music affects my emotions

When I'm feeling downand in the blues I often plug my headphones in and tune out the world and listen to that one song that makes you cry no matter how may times you listen to it, and it feels good. There is just something about the way music influences your emotions and just makes you feel safe in how you are feeling. There are songs that make me smile and happy, and there are others that remind me of a certain moment in my life, a memory, that can either put me in my worst mood, or best. No matter what, music has been an influence in my life, and it has been for the better.

2. Music has shaped the relationships I have today

My best friend and I have developed our long friendship over the mutual love of music, especially the band The 1975 (they are amazing and everything I've ever aspired to be). We have connected over music and have made memories based around particular songs. The song "Sex" by The 1975 can come on and I'm thinking about the first time I fell in love with the band with my best friend right by my side, cruising the streets in her car. Music has bonded me with so many different people in my life, with the constant connecting over similar tastes in music and finding new music to love through different people. One of my favorite things to do is to share amazing music with the people I love most.

3. Music is an art

Have you ever just listened to a song and said to yourself "Holy Shit"? I can't even count the numerous times where this has happened to me. It's unbelievably crazy how an artist creates their music, it truly is an art form. From the insane lyrics, to the catchy beats, I can't get enough of it. Music draws me in to a state of mental tranquility, making me feel safe and appreciated. I have always held a high standard for the arts, especially music. The art of music has changed throughout the years and I have changed with it. Not only has music influenced my life but it has made me connect more with the arts of the world. I love art, and art has shown it loves me just as much.

4. Music is always there for me and has never left me

Music can't leave you, no matter what, it will always be there for you. You can play your favorite song over and over again and never let you down. It extends an invisible hand towards you, helping you when you're in a time of need. Music has never left me and has only made me grow as a person and has loved me. I have loved music, music has loved me. It has given me everything I have ever wanted,  and I thank music for that dearly.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
