On Jan. 4, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival released their lineup after a long and anticipated wait. Now, only a few months away, the countdown begins for weekend one (April 15 to April 17) and weekend two (April 22 to April 24). The line up features two insane reunions headlining (LCD Soundsystem and Guns N' Roses), as well as many lesser-known, yet totally awesome, bands. For those not familiar with any of the smaller bands, here's your guide of the top 10 to catch at the festival.
1. Courtney Barnett.
Barnett is taking the music world by storm, and is even nominated for a Grammy (Best New Artist). Her lyrics will really resonate and her style is definitely refreshing.
2. Zella Day.
The indie pop artist originally from Arizona will be playing the festival for the first time at only 20 years old.
3. Melody's Echo Chamber.
If you're a fan of Tame Impala, you will definitely enjoy Melody's Echo Chamber, which is basically just the female version of Tame Impala.
4. Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
This psychedelic and lo-fi sounding band will have you busting out your best dance moves.
5. Girlpool.
The Los Angeles based band consisting of Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad just released an album this past June, displaying some punky but also indie-rock vibes.
6. Deerhunter.
Deerhunter is a laid back indie rock band not to miss, pulling influences from artists, such as Sonic Youth and Stereolab.
7. BADBADNOTGOOD.
A very interesting band to listen to, and probably just as interesting to see perform. The Toronto-based group dabbles in some jazzy and soothing tunes.
8. DMA's.
The Australian band with a '90s feel has a debut album coming out Feb. 26.
9. Years & Years.
The British electronica and synthpop band, Years & Years is great to dance and jam out to.
10. Crystal Fighters.
The band is said to make each song different and unique from the last during a live performance and is definitely worth seeing.
