This isn't just an opinion, it's a fact: music can save anyone. When you think nobody else feels the same way you do, that nobody understands, music does. Someone out there wrote a song about how you're feeling, and if not exactly that, then something very similar.
There's much more to music than just lyrics, instruments, and beats. A person pours their soul into music they create all to make music their can relate to. Sure, some music is just nice to listen to and there's nothing more to it; but then there are songs that just hit you in the heart, that make you believe they were made just for you.
I have so many songs that bring me back to a time and place, as if I'm living the situation over again. This can be a blessing and a curse. Some situations I never want to think about again, or the people there, for that matter, and an amazing song can be ruined by these memories. On the other hand, though, some songs can just make you smile when you hear them. There's nothing like hearing an upbeat song that makes you happier than ever.
Whenever I'm in a certain mood, there's going to be a song that I want to listen to. I always want to listen to music; it makes me feel alive knowing other people listen and feel the same way I do. If I tend to feel misunderstood and alone, I listen to Simple Plan because they have music that relates to me so well. If I'm upset over a boy, I have a whole playlist of songs that let me feel sad, mad, empowered, or whatever emotion I'm feeling at the time along with the artist. I sing these songs at the top of my lungs and this helps me grieve.
The most important part about music to me is the connection it enables listeners to feel. When I can relate and feel a part of the song, it's as if the artist wrote it for me. The words make me feel something, especially if they're ones that just make total sense.
There's a song I love for each situation and I have over 1,000 songs in my iTunes library. There's rarely a day that goes by that I don't have music playing. My taste in music varies and I listen to pretty much every genre. It's safe to say that music has always been a big part of my life and it always will be.
