At some point in everyone's lives, they have to move away from their beloved home. Maybe you're being sent off to school, like a boarding school or college, or maybe you're just growing up and starting your own independent life. But the fact of the matter is that you're leaving. You have to start fresh in a new environment and with new people. This may not seem easy because you're used to your comfy home, with everything you know at the touch of your finger with a familiar feel to it. The couch has that certain dent in it made just for you, and that one room has that odd, but familiar smell to it. All these things and more are now going to be gone because you have to deal with the reality that you're moving away. Nonetheless, you're not alone, and everything is going to be alright.
You want to make sure you have everything you need. You do not want to worry yourself with the restless nights thinking about what you do and don't need. However, you don't want to over pack, and have no room for anything. In the end, it's all about proportions and making things work. Pack as little or as much as you need, depending on your situation.
You may get weary. That is ok. It's ok to be unsure during the last few days or moments before embarking on your new journey. Have hope that everything will be ok, and it will.
The last and most important thing you want to remember is that change is good. Maybe it becomes hard saying goodbye to your loved ones. Take as much time as you need and hold onto them tight. They're not going to be gone forever, but they'll be out of your immediate thoughts, which comes with change. You need to understand that everything takes time, and it will take time for you to process and be alright with the idea of your new journey of change. At the end of the day, you need to reassure yourself that you will love where you are. Then, sooner or later, you will make new friends, you will have new, familiar, and comfortable objects, and this new home will become enjoyable. Nothing stays new forever, and you just have to accept the process of change. Once you embark on that path, there's no turning back. But in the end, it will be worth it, and you'll have a new place to call home.
