Moving Away From Your Hometown Is The Best Decision You'll Ever Make

We spend the first 18 years of our life (if not more) in the stability, comfort and safety of our parent’s home. They protect us, care for us and give us pretty much everything we could ever need. However, we all get to that age where we have to grow up, be on our own and somehow learn to "adult." Many kids get this chance when they go off to college. But even then, many kids do not venture too far from the comfort of their hometown. That is totally understandable, wanting to stay close to home but there is a great, big world out there just waiting to be explored.

The very first time I moved out of my parents home I good a giant leap of faith. I packed my bags, picked up and moved 700 miles away. I was most definitely scared but this has by far been the best decision I have ever made in my life. Moving far away from home allows you to grow in so many ways. You get the chance to experience life from a new angle and go on adventures you would never go on if you did not move away. So here are five reasons why moving away from your hometown will be the best decision you have ever made.

1. Freedom

Who doesn’t love freedom? Living all on your own gives you the option to do what you want when you want. Want to sleep in until 3 p.m.? Do it. Want to eat ice cream for breakfast? No one is stopping you. Want to stay out all night long? You don't have a curfew. Freedom is a beautiful thing.

2. Becoming Independent

On top of all the freedom you will now have, living on your own gives you the chance to become very responsible. You get to show the world that you can grow up. I mean paying bills, doing laundry and working all the time is not necessarily fun but at least living on your own gives you the chance to learn how to adult. I know all of us could use a few lessons in how to "adult" better.

3. Adventure

Don’t we all want an adventure in the great wide somewhere? If we stay stuck in one place how will we ever get that? Moving somewhere new and far away gives you the chance to explore and adventure out. Think about all the amazing pictures and stories you can share with your friends and family back home. Plus you know how jealous everyone stuck in that town of yours is going to be when they see you having fun somewhere far away.

4. New Friends

Who doesn’t love having friends? It can be a very scary thing moving to a place where you do not know anyone. But the most rewarding thing of all is making new friends. After moving away from my hometown, I made friends from all over and it was awesome. New friends introduce you to new cultures, activities and surroundings, and can open your mind to so many new things.

5. Discovering Yourself

I can honestly say I learned more about myself the in the short time span of living on my own than I ever did in all the years of living at home. I learned what truly makes me happy, what makes me sad and how to be the best person I can be. More than any other reason, moving away from your hometown allows you to grow and develop and find yourself. If you are ever at a loss in life, adventuring off to a new location could just be the best decision you ever make. Don’t be afraid to take a risk and make a big move to a new place. I can promise you that it will be the best decision you’ll ever make!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
