Movies are truly such an amazing thing. It's crazy to think how such a small idea can transform into something so incredibly moving, or hysterically funny, or even dramatically action packed. (Not sure if that last one made sense, but you get the point.) Movies are life. Well, they're mine at least. Just imagine how much work is put into a single film. Food for thought: one page of a movie equals one whole minute. Now, recently there haven't been many good movies out since it's past award season, but summer is upon us and there have been a few spectacular movies out.
Insurgent. Ugh Insurgent. What a great sequel. You don't see a lot of that nowadays. Truthfully, the Divergent series blows The Hunger Games series out of the park. Shailene Woodley is not one of my favorite actresses, but she was fantastic in this sequel. You could definitely tell that she worked out for this movie and it shows, with how much faster she moved and how muscular she looked. And since we're talking about muscular, may I just say Theo James captured my heart once again. He was beauty, brains and bronze. He is the whole package. If you're not into the more muscular man, then funny man, Miles Teller, probably did it for you. He's a babe too.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron was crazy. It was action packed and humorous, yet romantic. Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans looked as gorgeous as ever and Scarlett Johansen made me feel like I was a bean in a burrito and she was the whole damn Chipotle. She was hot. But enough about the looks, the acting was as usual top notch and truly made you want to fly out of that theater and save the world. Elizabeth Olsen, the infamous Olsen twins' sister, did a fantastic job as Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch and Robery Downey Jr. didn't necessarily steal the show, but had a hell of a performance. I would go into way more detail with this review, but quite honestly, I don't think you want a four page essay on why this movie was amazing.
Pitch Perfect 2. Now, this movie kind of surprised me. I know what you're thinking, 'Why are you surprised it was good?' To answer your question, I did previously state that not many sequels are good. Quite honestly, most suck, but this was magnificent. My own mother, who is extremely picky when it comes to movies, even thought it was better than the first. Funny is an understatement. I could not stop laughing in the theater and the songs were amazing. Anna Kendrick, hats off to you, girl. Anybody remember the little girl who was nominated at the Oscar's for Best Supporting Actress in the film called True Grit? No? Well she's all grown up now and a bomb singer. She killed it and did a fantastic performance. Do I really have to say anything about Rebel Wilson? She was hysterical as always, too. Thank you, Elizabeth Banks, for taking this on as one of your new projects. It was amazing.
So, what can I say? So far it's been a great past few months for sequels and I sincerely hope that these summer blockbusters make a name for themselves because the movie industry is in dire need of some.
