"I've never had a group of friends before, I promise Imma make y'all proud."
When I moved to college, I was terrified. I have had the same friend(s)basically since middle school. I got depressed, I felt just generally broken for the first few weeks. And then a tall girl with chocolate colored hair waltzed (quite literally) her way into my life.
When this girl came into my life, she brought with her a whirlwind of new experiences. Looking back on all the late nights, car rides and conversations we've shared now...I don't know how I survived 18 years without her.
Meeting my best friend let us both with her now boyfriend, which led us to our other best friends. Somehow we all melted together on a random adventure that turned into one of the most fun nights I had ever had.
These adventures evolved into family dinners at the same time every night, crying in each other's rooms while we complain over things we can't control, taking some of us to see the ocean for the very first time, late night study sessions and impromptu trips to Alabama at 10:00 when we all have to be in class at 8:00 the next morning.
I've never had a group of girls to call my friends, my girls. And while I absolutely adore the boys of the group, there's something kind of special to me about seeing the girls' group chat light up my phone. The nights we spend in pajamas pants complaining about petty things or s/o's do or how we wish we were as fashionable as our celebrity icons.
You guys make me the happiest I have ever been, having such a loving, supportive, amazing group of people to call my friends. The things we've done together, the way we've supported one another is unlike any other I have (or will) experience.
Long live the Conference Room Kids.
