No matter where you go to school or what you study, the semester is at that time during which everything kicks up. Academics are getting consistently more challenging and extracurricular activities more demanding. It can be very challenging to find the motivation to get up out of bed in the morning knowing that you have endless grueling tasks ahead of you, so here are some inspirational lines to help you get your motivation going every day!

1.“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” – Jim Watkins

It isn’t necessarily always about being the best, or the most noticed. It may feel like it is, but in reality, work ethic will always be what gets you far in life. Persistence is key. If you continuously work hard, you will do great things. Notice I said great, not big. Because something that you may think is small can turn out to be an impactful victory in the long run.

2.“People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” – Rob Siltanen

Nobody ever did anything super awesome without believing in themselves, at least a little bit. Realize that you have the capacity within you to do absolutely anything that you set your mind to. If you work hard and execute your actions to the best of your ability, you can do it. It really is the crazy ones who get things done.

3.“Nothing worth having comes easy.” – Anonymous

I’m sure everyone and their mother has been told this one, but it’s definitely true. If what you’re striving for were easy, anybody and everybody could achieve or obtain it. But it isn’t easy. That is what is going to make it special on the tail end: you will have had the ability to push through the challenges that come along with your aspirations in a way that many others weren’t. That is awesome. Go you!

4.“The tassel is worth the hassle.” – Anonymous

My best friend always tells me this one when I’m complaining to her about having too much school work or how bored I get in my meteorology lectures. In this world, a bachelor’s degree is equivalent to what a high school degree was when our parents were our age. We’ve gotta do it. It may be more fun or interesting for some than others, but regardless, everybody has to power through and get it done. It will feel pretty good when we get that diploma and the world is full of opportunities.

5.“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.” – John C. Maxwell

Things don’t always go as planned. Life happens. Mistakes or differed outcomes from what we wanted or expected can be very discouraging. Nobody likes setbacks. But, really, how are we supposed to appreciate progress if we don’t have the opposing end of the spectrum under our belt to compare it to? Failure is healthy and even necessary. It makes your victories all the sweeter and your process all the more educational and beneficial.

Keep on hustling, we’ve all got this!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
