If I have learned anything this semester, it's that my mom is the best thing that's ever happened to me. She has grown to become my best friend and confidant this past year. Although this wasn't the case when I was in high school, it is true today. They say the heart grows fonder with distance so maybe it has taken 600 miles to realize how amazing she is, I may not be her best friend but she certainly is mine. So, in honor of mother's day this weekend I have decided to write her a sonnet. (One because a sonnet is most often used to express love, and two because I am a broke college student.)
A mother's love is hard to find,
it is unconditional and lovely.
it is still a mystery to mankind
that you still love me when I am ugly.
A mother's love is a true comfort for the heart,
when I am living a world away.
A mother's love is a wondrous art
keeping me warm every single day.
A mother's love knows no limits.
When I cry and scream, it is ever present.
You still lift my fallen spirit
even when I am filled with bitter discontent.
I know this whole thing is kind of sappy
but only doing this for you, does it make me happy.
Thank you for being such an awesome mother and loving me through the good and the bad, I love you and can't wait to see you!
