I have a riddle for you to solve: who is your best friend, but also your worst enemy? Who is your biggest supporter, yet your worst critic? Who do you love with all of your heart, yet sometimes you think you hate them, even though that is completely untrue? If you guessed your mom, then winner, winner, chicken dinner! You’re right!
Even though most people, at more times than once, claim to want to strangle their mothers for being so ‘difficult’, I think that we call agree that our mothers are ultimately one of the only people who will ever have our backs, no matter what.
1. They Birthed You
I mean, come on. Without our mothers going through those 9 months of pregnancy, those long hours of labor, and those years spent teaching us to walk and talk, then to sit down and shut up, our mothers took a large responsibility upon themselves when they chose to bring you into the world. And if that doesn’t scream “I Love You”, then what does?
2. They Love You On Your Worst Days
Moms love their kids unconditionally, no matter how many headaches they get from them. When the rest of the world would get mad and leave, moms stick around and deal with our attitudes. Moms love their children in their best, and in their worst, and they’ll always have our backs.
3. They’re Ultimately Our Best Friends
From late night talks about the worst days of our lives, to road trips full of crazy adventures, to simple ice cream outings to get away from all the homework and busyness of school, mothers are ultimately our BFFs who will never, ever, ever resign from that position.
4. They Listen To Your Drama
Who needs a llama to vent to when you have a momma? Moms, whether at times they are interested or not, are always there to listen to your daily problems & to offer their word of advice whenever they feel the need to. And, most of the time, a mom’s advice is the most helpful.
5. They’re Always There
Band concerts? She’s there. Birthdays? She’s there. Baseball games? You better believe she’s there. Moms are always present in any event that their child has, and when they’re not, they wish they were.
Moms are true blessings in our lives that, unfortunately, we take for granted all too often. So the next time you see your mom, be sure to tell her thanks, and that you love her.
