To Mommy,
Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to be you. From trying on your heels to putting on your lipstick, you have always been the person I look up to. I can't put into words how lucky I am to call you not only my role model, but my best friend. You're the first person I call with good news and the one I cry to about the bad. You have an unspoken way of fixing everything and like a superhero, you always save the day. This letter is for all the times I forgot to say thank you for all the little things you do. This is for your loving support through all the years and pushing me to be a better version of myself every single day.
You're my map because you always help me find my way, and like a library, you share your wisdom and your knowledge to me. Every day I become a little bit more like you, mommy, and I couldn't be prouder. I'm sorry when I don't always listen to your advice and instead chose to stick with my stubborn ways. I firmly believe a mother is always right even if I sometimes have to learn that the hard way. Your heart is made of pure gold. You are one of the most beautiful, loving, caring friends I could ever have. Everything I do, I promise to do it with my whole heart and to continue to make you proud. You make me believe in myself and help me believe that I can do anything, because for me you've done everything.
Thank you for showing me how to stand on my own two feet. Thank you for teaching me the importance of taking care of myself first before I can do for others. You've taught me how to love with my heart wide open and instilled qualities in me that I'm forever grateful for. Because of you, I know if there's nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Because of you, I know how to be strong and confident in any situation. Because of you, I know there's nothing a long phone call to home can't fix. Because of you, I am me.
You're like the ocean, because you're always there...like a tissue, you dry my tears; and like home, you are where my heart is.
Love forever and a day,
Melissa Anne
