Remember when you were sitting in front of the television saying, "Wow, I want to be able to sing like that!" "American Idol" brought many starstruck and dramatic moments that we may never forget. From the contestant round to the finale, we fell in love with whomever was on the stage. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The 15th and final season of "American Idol" premiered Jan. 6.
Although the well-known TV singing competition is wrapping up, we cannot discredit the talent that has been presented during the season. Many young musicians still hold the dream of being the next American Idol. The season is off to a great start with some talented musicians. I noticed great energy and heart this year in numerous contestants.
La'Porsha Renae delivered a powerful performance of "Creep" by Radiohead. Her tone was strong and soulful. She was able to showcase her range and dynamic levels with great control. Another contestant that had a completely different performance was Tristan McIntosh. She performed "Why Baby Why" by Mickey Guyton. She played the piano with grace and concentration. Her words were soft in the beginning, then she wowed the judges with her strength. McIntosh hit her notes with such passion. Both contestants filled the audition room with their individuality.
Renae brought her little girl to the audition and J. Lo held her hand. As Renae sang, her little girl's eyes lit up. She smiled and laughed and it was evident her mother's voice gave her great happiness. In the end, the audition resulted with a ticket to Hollywood. On the other hand, McIntosh had expressed to the judges that her mother was overseas due to being in the army. It was clear that she was extremely emotional about her mother being so far away. Her mother is her everything. To her surprise, her mother had come out after McIntosh gave her audition. She even handed her daughter her ticket to Hollywood. Words can't describe the expression on McIntosh's face. It truly was a special moment.
Nothing beats the love that was expressed during these auditions. It was easy to see that these females light up each other's worlds. These moments are what "American Idol" is all about. Find true happiness in the music and remember who inspires them to produce such great sounds. I'm excited to see where Renae and McIntosh stand in the competition.
