Everyone who goes to York College automatically assumes that York City in general is a boring, two-star town with nothing to do but porch drink on Jackson Street or go to Murph's Study Hall. Little do the students know about all the underrated, fascinating places downtown, there are so many places that will grab everyone's attention regardless of what you are interested in.

I've listed a few but there are so many more places for foodie people, those who love to shop until they drop, and there are places that have a variety of hobbies to get involved in. If you are currently here over the summer and have free time it is an ideal time to check out some of these shops!

York Central Market

This market is located on 34 W Philadelphia Street, it has fresh produce, meats, grown flowers, seafood, deli meats, coffee, live music. and artisan crafts. This market is diverse and the culturally influenced part of York city. People from all around the town come to mingle and and support the economic and social heart of the city. Whether you are on your lunch break from your 9-5pm job or, just stopping in for some fresh produce for the night’s dinner, the Central Market is a great pit stop when in the city.

56 Urban Provisions

This coffee shop is located on the corner of S 56 Duke Street, this place is considered to be a hidden little gem. They do not just have hot/cold coffee, drinks, and food, they have some household cleaning items some fun cooking plus baking items, a unique book/journal/stationary section, art for sale on the walls, and a drinks/cocktails/mixers section. They do have seating so bring your friends and enjoy a refreshing hot or cold coffee drink, while checking out some of the items they have on display.

Glazin’ Donut Shop

This donut shop is located on 101 s Duke Street, it is actually diagonal to 56 Urban Provisions. They do not just sell home made donuts, they have coffee, beer, and other beverages. What is better than a place where you can grab a donut and a bottle of brew? The answer is rhetorical. The donuts are out of this world and the selection of handmade donuts changes everyday to keep you on your toes. Stop by and see what all the hype is about today!

Redeux Marketplace

This market is located on 113 S Duke Street, it is a vintage and handmade marketplace. They take furniture that had a previous owner and they refurbish it themselves. Essentially, it is an upscale consignment shoppe that sells clothes, jewelry, antique nicknacks, furniture, and a ton of miscellaneous items. Whether your decorating your home or looking for a specific item this is the place to visit. Although, I must warn you, because you might leave with more than expected, shop wisely.

Indigo Bleu

This clothing store is located on 39 W Philadelphia Street, it is a bohemian boutique for women. This store is especially unique because the owner, Zarah Brooks is a York College graduate and built the business from the ground up. The clothing and accessories can be a tiny bit pricey but it is worth every penny. Now, get down to Indigo Bleu and see for yourself how chic meets tranquility.

Foster’s Flower Shop

This flower shop is located at 27 N Beaver Street, it is right across the street from the popular White Rose bar and grill. This flower shop seems like it came right out of movie, it is a hipster flower spot that provides flower arrangements regardless of how over the top the requests seem to be. Whether or not you need a flower arrangement this place is a must visit when in the neighborhood.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
