There are so many stressful things about being a senior in high school. You have to keep your grades up, have a job, answer everyone’s questions about what you are doing after high school, and the most stressful thing of all – apply to college. Yikes! Even then there are so many things that you have to get done before you can start applying. Here are the most stressful things about applying to college.
1. Choosing a University
There are so many universities in the country (and out of the country) that it’s so hard to choose where to go. You have to pick a location, in-state or out of state. You have to find out how much it costs (and then proceed to stress about money). Then you have to look up what their requirements are – what is your ACT/SAT score, how many AP courses you need, and their GPA requirement.
2. Taking the Tests
The first thing you have to do is take the standardized tests that everyone hates. Whether or not you take the SAT or the ACT or both, you will be stressed about your score and you will most likely have to take more than one test. It sucks. You pay money multiple times to take a test that may or may not help you get into college. Of course, once you actually take the tests and (finally) get the score you want, the stress goes away… not.
3. Filling Out the Application
After you choose your colleges and take the required tests, it’s finally time to actually fill out the application. Yay! You get to answer questions about you, your family, your personal life, and your school career! Awesome! Nope. It takes a long time, you constantly have to ask your parents questions about themselves, and you basically get bored after the first five minutes. If you have the self-discipline to actually push all the way through and finish the application, good for you, but if you don’t, it takes such a long time and stresses you out the closer the deadline gets.
4. Filing for FAFSA
This title basically induces stress just by reading it. This entire process is horrible because once again you are giving them all your personal information, but now you have to worry about whether or not you get any money for college. Scary stuff y’all.
Honestly, everything about applying for college is a mess of stress and anxiety, but these is the worst of it.
