It's a common situation: You'll get in from the gym, half-starved and ready to eat whatever you can find. But since you just got finished working out you don't want to blow your calories, and yet a celery stalk doesn't exactly satisfy those cravings. I'm here to tell you that there is a way to eat healthy, filling, and yummy foods — just keep on reading.
Avocado Toast
I'm starting off with my favorite healthy snack, it's so delicious I could eat it twice a day. As hard as it is for me to not turn the avocado into guacamole, it's worth it after you try this snack. The avocado/multigrain bread combo gives you just the right mixture of healthy fats and complex carbohydrates to keep you full and happy for hours after your workout. Just take your desired amount of avocado and smash it onto toast with a dash of pepper and lemon juice.
Hummus and Veggies
This is one of the best snacks for you. Hummus is an ultra tasteful and healthy dip made of chickpeas, tahini, and various spices. Not only do the veggies give a nice crunch, but the chickpeas pack in protein necessary in keeping your stomach fuller, longer.
Almond Butter Banana Nut Wrap
As you might have noticed by now, the best snacks are protein bases with a fruit or veggie pairing, and this snack is no exception. This snack is ultra portable for on the go. All you need is a multigrain tortilla, almond butter, one banana, and nuts of your choosing. The nuts and almond butter will deliver protein while the banana will help you get in your daily dosage of fruit.
Kale, Berry, and Acai Chia Power Smoothie
Smoothies with kale can get a bad rep, but just give this one a try. With the acai and berries, you can't even taste the kale but the nutrients are still a great bonus. The acai berries add beneficial antioxidants, as well as healthy omega fats, amino acids, and fiber while the chia seeds adds heart-healthy, omega-3 fatty acids.
