In every good romantic comedy there's always several different dynamic women characters that we end up relating to on some level. Whether we already are like them or we strive to be like them, here's a list of my favorite influential women characters from my favorite Rom-Coms.
1. Elle Woods ("Legally Blonde"): If we're being honest she is a bad ass in the weirdest way. She's so completely girly and obsessed with pink. However, she turned herself into a completely strong, independent women and her got herself in and out of law school. She shows us that a little bit of bitterness and a lot bit of self motivation can go a long way.
2. Kat Stratford ("10 Things I Hate About You"): She is a pretty bomb image of what feminism really is. She truly just believes in gender equality and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Her character represents so much. She stays true to herself and doesn't change to fit the mold of what everyone wants a high school girl to look like. She also isn't into a guy solely because he drives a cool car, props to you Kat.
3. Carly and Kate ("The Other Woman"): Instead of attacking each other and blaming each other, they team together and work through their hardships in a completely hilarious way. This movie gives us two different women to relate to who are both strong (most of the time) in their own way.
4. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda ("Sex and the City"): While they aren't necessarily what you want your children to strive to be all the time. They have their moments. They all have good careers (what does Charlotte even do?) and good relationships (besides Samantha). What more could you ask for? They are all strong women and are not afraid to be themselves. They also are a good image of healthy, strong, loving friendships.
5. Miranda and Andy ("Devil Wears Prada"): Miranda is a woman in power, which is influential in itself. Andy however fights her way to the top and works hard for success, all the while trying to stay true to herself.
6. Bliss ("Whip it"): Let's be honest she chases her dreams despite her parents not approving. Bliss is searching for herself and they does well showing her hardships throughout. Plus this entire movie is full of hardcore ladies so, rock on.
I'm now going to go watch these movies and get super inspired and motivated and maybe take up a new activity, like roller derby or maybe study law. Who knows.
