OK, so I just started watching "American Horror Story" last October, so I'm way behind. However, I think something needs to be addressed. Jamie Brewer is one of my favorite actresses. It's not because she has a developmental disability, but because she is a great actress and brings great talent to both seasons I have seen her in of "American Horror Story." (I'm currently on season three, however, I do like her a tad better in "Coven.")
Someone coming into my house and telling me I'm going to die (no matter how true it is) is just unsettling. In "Coven," Jamie's character, Nan, is kind, compassionate and brings a lot to the table—or um, coven. From her powers to her beautiful spirit, Nan is my favorite character in this season. As far as Jamie herself, acting also isn't her only occupation. Without further ado, let me give you more reasons as to why she is one of my favorite women in the world.
1. She spoke up for people with disabilities all over Texas by speaking to the Senate to abolish the R-word from disability legislation.
2. She was even asked to join Texas' Governmental Affairs Committee due to all of her hard work on Texas' ARC Board (an organization that fights for the rights of citizens with disabilities).
3. She has also been in musicals. Who doesn't love a good musical?
4. She completely slayed at New York Fashion Week.
5. She also is involved with a multitude of non-profits from National Down Syndrome Congress to Civitan International (an organization that performs a variety of service projects all over the country).
I don't think I need to persuade you any further. Jamie Brewer wins at life, and she wins big. Keep slaying, Jamie!
