Unwinding with some peace and quiet after a long hectic work day sounds like a dream come true for most parents. But as soon as you get all comfy on the couch, you hear wailing from the back room and suddenly your relaxing night is ruined.
Anyone who has had children understands the sleepless nights and constant running around that come with being a parent. As soon as you have a baby, your child becomes your life and you have no time for little things such as going to the gym or out to dinner.
Nowadays, it seems like more people are spending time at the dog park than at the playground. Being a dog lover myself, even just seeing a dog, makes me instantly happy. Pets can lower stress and give the same affection you give to them, to you.
As much love and care pets need, babies obviously require more attention. Not to mention the amount of money you will be saving in the long run because you won't have to pay for college and all those Christmas presents.
A disclaimer on the topic of pets over children is you cannot give the same love to a dog as to a human being you have brought into this world. Also, a con to this lifestyle is obviously the lifespan of an animal versus a baby. It is hard to see a dog grow up so fast and be gone just like that.
Owning a dog has been proven to help grow relationships. It is also a great form of commitment and a big next step in a relationship. Raising a puppy is just like raising a child because they need to be fed, washed, and given attention just as a child does. If you can raise a dog together, you should be ready to raise a baby.
Even though a dog is only in a small part of your life, you are a dog's entire life. Being an extreme dog lover myself, I have contemplated having dogs as my children many time. Even though snuggling up with a furry friend at the end of the day sounds a lot better than changing a diaper, creating a living human with someone you love means so much more.
