Back in 2015, I had the opportunity to take a road trip. Destination: Whitefish, Montana. My grandmother and aunt organized the entire trip, down to the hour. 6,000 miles (give or take) in 12 days throughout 14 states can take a lot out of you. The plan was to stop by multiple attractions throughout the trip. Attractions and natural sites including Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, even stopping in St. Louis to see the Gateway Arch. I ended up taking pictures on my phone along the way, documenting every stop.
There are always bumps to every plan, being from me getting sick in the first couple of hours, having to drive through an unlit road with and too many deer to stop for, and even my sister leaving behind a special Huckleberry pie. Eventually we did make it to Montana, and it was by far one of my favorite places on the trip.
We visited multiple national parks along the way, including Glacier National Park, Badlands National Park, and Devil's Tower National Park. It was really an experience like no other, the ability to observe wildlife and the scenery of nature was amazing. We even got to touch snow on top of one of the mountains (we barely even get snow back home during winter, let alone the summer).
It was by far one of the best trips of my life and I'll cherish those moments forever. Not many people get handed the opportunity to travel around the United States with their family. It was really nice to be able to see family members I don't normally see because they live thousands of miles away. I hope I get to make another trip really soon.
