Today after class I had to go to work. At work I asked one of my coworkers how her day was going and she responded telling me that she has been having a bad day. I asked her what has made today a bad day and the response I got sounded like this: "It's such a Monday. Everyone is in the dull, bad, Monday mood. You know? Mondays just aren't really the best days."
That response sounded way too familiar to me and it probably sounds familiar to you as well.
Monday. Many people groan & sigh at the thought of Mondays. We sometimes act as if our brains are programmed to dread Mondays. Mondays remind people of another long week they have ahead of them. I think that if we went into our Mondays with a positive mindset it would allow our day & week to glisten with a little more joy in it; starting our day off with that positive mindset can be easier said than done sometimes.
When we wake up we shouldn't immediately sigh and think about how it's going to be a bad day simply because it's a Monday- instead, we should wake up with a smile, open mind & an open heart ready to conquer the week ahead of us. We should be grateful for Monday's and not just assume that they are going to be a 'blah' day.
Why should we ignore the 'bad day Monday' stereotype?
Mondays really aren't so bad.
Every Monday it is just another reminder that you made it another week!
Every Monday you get the chance to start off a whole new week.
Every Monday you get to have the privilege that many people don't...to start another work week and/or school week. You get to go to a job where you are making money! You get to go to school to become educated! Many people don't get to do those so rather than groaning at the thought of work or school we should appreciate and smile that we even get to do those things. (If you don't like school or work then I suggest you change your major/minor and/or job to something you are more interested in & enjoy doing.)
Every day you get to choose your mindset & mood. Yes, many factors throughout the day can control & alter that mindset & mood if you let them but, you don't have to let them. I hope you choose to make every day including Mondays the best they can be.
Now I am not saying that every Monday is going to be a great day! Bad days are OKAY, they happen to us all and they happen to us during any of the day of the week.
I encourage you all to start off every Monday with a positive mindset and smile, it would be a better way to start off the day and week than waking up with a groan and negative mindset.
I encourage you to ignore the "Mondays are bad days" stereotype.
I encourage you to allow Mondays to be wonderful.
I hope you all had a good Monday
&
I hope you have many more good Mondays to come.
