Momma,
As I am coming to a near close with my college education and will soon enter the "real world", I can't help but reflect on how much our relationship has changed over the years and how much I have thought about you these past few years while being away for college. So many memories of me being home with you come to mind when I'm missing you which is most of the time. The route I've taken has been nowhere near easy but having you there for me and showing me the prime example of what a woman with strength, dignity, and so much love in her heart looks like, has helped me beyond words. I will never be able to thank you enough for that because you have exceeded my expectations of what a mother can be. I often think about the times I thought I hated you during my high school years, my junior college years where I had an unbelievable amount of breakdowns and you always being there for me even when I was wanting to quit, and now my university years where I have come to the realization that I literally wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for you.
I'm sorry for being unappreciative. Now that I've been away from home, I would go back and do the little things with you in a heartbeat. Things like spending time shopping with you even though I absolutely hate it, going to your favorite restaurant and giving you my full attention, and going to the grocery store with you even if it's just for a few groceries. I would give anything back to get up appreciate those little times with you instead of being a brat and staying home. Being away from home has made me long for these simple things that I once took for granted. Now when I get the opportunity to do little things, I without a doubt will jump up and enjoy your presence.
I'm sorry for the arguments. I have no idea where the attitude came from but its always been there and I still can't believe how much you held back along with being so patient with us kids. Now I know why I got my phone taken away all of the time. At the time, it seemed like my whole world was crashing down when I got into trouble. I can now say that I certainly learned my lesson and thank you again for yelling at me and shutting me up when I talked back. I know I can be over dramatic and that caused some fights between us but I am happy that you really never did send me away for boot camp like you and dad insisted you'd do. I'm better off because I learned my lessons from you two.
Thank you for always supporting me. Growing up, having a mom that regularly told their daughter how smart, talented, and beautiful she was seemed like the norm. However, after meeting so many different people throughout my years in college, I have realized that unfortunately that isn't the case. Thank you so much for being the type of mother that let me live my life and learn my own lessons, pushed me to be humbled by my experiences, helped me gain self confidence, showed me how to always express love to others, and always give respect where respect is earned. Lastly, thank you for giving back to others without hesitation and for inspiring me to follow my dreams. Your faith in me has been one of my biggest blessings in life because I know you will always be there for me.
Finally, thanks for being my go-to person in life. I will never be able to thank you enough for being there to listen to my problems without judgment better yet, you have always been straight up with me when I needed it most. You always give the best and most sincere advice. Even though I have this one crazy dream set in mind that I want to accomplish within these next few years, you tell me to keep working hard, keep my faith strong, and that I can be whatever I want to be no matter what anyone says. You have no idea how much your words have sparked an even bigger flame in me to reach my goal. After this goal is accomplished, I will go onto my next goal and when I accomplish that one, I know you will be right there cheering me on and saying that you knew I could do it! When its all said and done, you are my best friend that I adore and love with all of my heart. You are my rock and one of the reasons I work so hard. I am blessed beyond belief to be your daughter. XOXO
With love,
Your daughter Breana
