Michael Scott is an inspiration and with about half a quarter left to go before summer vacation, I desperately need some form of inspiration. I have also found that Michael Scott's wise words speak perfectly to a lot of stressful moments that I've experienced throughout the year. Now that we're pretty much in the home stretch, I present to you twenty moments when Michael Scott emulated a bunch of your feelings about college stress.
When the professor says, "please make sure that your sources support your own argument," but you have no clue what you're trying to say.
When you somehow become the leader of your group project but you've got nothing.
When you walk into the dorm kitchen and stumble upon people cooking a five-course meal.
Witnessing all of the racism and sexism and classism and homophobia and feeling like quitting society.
Looking at your schedule and noticing multiple essays due on the same day.
Checking your bank account at any point ever.
Trying to give your professors the benefit of the doubt, but still feeling like they're all out to get you... just a little.
Saying something in class discussion only for the sake of getting participation points.
When people are screaming outside your door on a Wednesday night.
Committing to something stupid because you don't have any better ideas (although tube city was a GREAT idea).
Watching the whole gang getting ready to go out on a Saturday night while staring at your overwhelming amount of homework.
Spending twenty minutes on the toilet scrolling through Twitter to avoid the universe and all of your responsibilities.
Reminding yourself that you don't have to be an academic all-star to be a good human being with a good life.
Having an epiphany about how to get your life together in the middle of the cafeteria and hoping that it will last longer than ten minutes.
Listening in on a conversation with people ruthlessly arguing about who is more stressed out because of X, Y and Z.
Feeling like scum as you try to keep up with all of your papers, exams, and other obligations.
Deciding that you simply cannot give a damn any longer and feeling totally in control for a hot second.
Not knowing whether an emotional outburst is going to result in hysterical laughter or tears.
Establishing your true goals outside of academics.
Feeling three hundred per cent ready to bounce for summer vacation but realizing you still have a few more weeks.
