Life has always had its ups and downs. You remember being a kid and having a pop quiz in spelling class, only to be followed by ice-cream day in the cafeteria. Every yin has its yang. This truth becomes even more apparent when people leave for college. Having to "adult" for the first time makes for some very prominent highs and lows. Finally making your own money is super -- but spending most of it on pizza and wine is lackluster at best. If you're having a rough day and need a few pick-me-ups, you've come to the right place! Here is a list of every small moment that can make a college student's frown turn into a slightly less sad frown.
Class getting cancelled
No matter if it's your easiest prerequisite class or your 300-level accounting class, having it get cancelled is hands down one of the best feelings of bliss offered in this world. It could mean another hour or so or sleep. Or it could mean getting home earlier with enough time to relax before jumping into your homework for the night. More realistically, it means sitting around doing nothing basking in the glow of not having to be in class in the morning. Rock on.
Finding online coupon codes
Groupon, GrubHub, Eat24 -- any deal is a god deal in the eyes of college students. 50% off your order? Yes. Free shipping. Done. $1 off your $14 box of Insomnia Cookies? What a steal! There's nothing quite like getting something for just a little cheaper than you usually get it. That's the real thrill of life.
Decent weather for once
Believe it or not, we millennial actually do enjoy a nice day outside. It makes such a difference when we wake up to a warm, blue sky. Rather than the cold, dark, grey one we're so prone to receiving. Although we're still forced to spend a majority of our time inside -- whether it's for practical reasons or for Netflix watching -- it's still nice to know there's a nice sun outside awaiting our arrival.
Class getting let out early
Starting to sense a pattern? (Both in reasons to not be in class and "Spongebob" GIFs.) We can all sense when the professor just maybe isn't feeling it that day. Maybe they're running late or are really busy with other classes. But when there's still 20 minutes left and you start to hear them mumble the words "Well I guess that's all for today ..." -- ahhh, is there any greater bliss?
Eating a good dinner
It's not secret that us struggling students don't always get a nutritious dinner. That's why when we do we like to take it in for all it's worth. This could mean deciding to treat yourself to a nice meal out or taking matters into your own hands and cooking for yourself. Either way, it's freaking awesome and the food is good.
Seeing an animal in any situation
It's scientifically proven that coming into contact with a cute animal can brighten up your day. I made that up but it's basically true! On even the worst of days, no one can come face to face with a dog and be upset. So for future reference, locate your nearest pet store or shelter for your next exam week. You'll thank me later.
So here's to trying to find all the good in the bad, and balancing life's ups and downs. May your days be filled with endless discounted pizza and fluffy puppies.
