10 Reasons Sincerely Excited To Go Back To School

"I wish summer would go by faster" says no college student, ever. Except me.

As someone who can’t sit still or focus on one thing, I dreaded the fact that I had nothing to do. Which lead to me going to summer school.

Then I thought that summer school wasn’t enough of a distraction to my boredom, so I got a job. I became a receptionist which includes one task after task after task on top of a task. So overall, I love my job, but it’s still not enough. Which leads me to my conclusion that I am way too excited to go back to University. Here are some reasons as to why I'm excited to go back to college:

1. Having a Routine

As a college student, you have a set schedule, homework, papers and stress to worry about. As morbid as it sounds, I love being a student. It distracts me from so many thoughts and unnecessary things that I should be doing.

2. College friends

Since most of my friends are scattered throughout the country I didn't event get to see them so this is another bonus on coming back to Uni

3. Pointless events

As pointless as they seem somehow you still get hooked on checking out the event and actually participating.

4. Free stuff

Every event leads to free stuff. I'm actually tempted on getting my own drawer for the free college shirts I've gotten.

5. Being busy

As much as I loved summer vacation and all the amazing memories I spent with my friends, I need some downtime to get myself busy and keep my mind occupied. I read more than ten books, lost as much weight that I could do and got some of my college credits out of the way. It was a successful summer.

6. Having an excuse

In the summer you cant say: "oh sorry i've got a paper due tomorrow" or "i can't go cause i've got a huge final soon". So since school is starting you can play your cards right.

7. No curfew

Living with parents is all fine and dandy until they enforce a curfew even if you're already 20 years old.

8. The work keeps you sane

As i've said I can't sit still or focus so with school starting I've got my mind on top of my homework instead of thinking deeply within my thoughts

9. Being productive

Instead of repainting my room repeatedly, I write papers. Instead of learning a new code I can actually do my homework. And instead of overthinking I can actually focus on something tangible.

10. The naps

I've concluded that college naps are the best naps. Summer naps just felt lazy.

So at the end of the day I've been counting down the days for when school starts and I could actually be a productive citizen and have a set routine rather than sit in my room and paint a mural. Hopefully, I'm not the only one that feels this way though.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
