..and im still not saying it. I don’t miss high school. I miss my friends and everything we did together. From freshman year to graduation day, I made so many memories. I smiled, laughed, yelled, cried and ate with the same people for four years. Here are a few of my favorite memories (in no particular order) from my time in high school
1. State Football
My high school team went and won state my freshman and sophomore year. My juniors and senior year we lost the quarterfinals game so a lot of my memories are at football games.
2. Prom
My junior year, I went with my friend from another school and skipped my own prom. Senior year, I went to mine with a different friend. I loved both but being able to go with a childhood friend was amazing considering we went to different schools.
3. The last boys’ basketball game my senior year
My best friends and I drove two hours on a Wednesday to watch the boys play and it is by far on of my favorite times in high school. We may have lost but our love for our spoofhounds never stopped. Also, one of our senior boys got hit in the face and had three teeth knocked out so that was interesting.
4. Football Locker Signs
It seems like a silly thing to love but the cheer team made locker signs every year for the football boys. It may have taken twelve hours to make them my senior year but they turned out amazing so I didn’t care how long they took.
5. Youth Tour
This is the one memory I didn’t do with any of my friends but it was one of the best experiences of my life. I won a free trip to Washington D.C. and went with 96 other juniors from my state. Going seventeen hours away from home with people I had NEVER met sounds crazy but I got so close to them all in such a short time. I loved it.
6. Eating lunch with my favorite teacher
Sophomore year, my friends and I ate lunch everyday with the same teacher. And when I say every day, I seriously mean EVERY SINGLE DAY. We knew his entire lunch schedule and honestly probably knew more about his personal life than anyone else in the school. Us girls were devastated when he got a new job at a different school my junior year. This is my favorite memory.
7. Cheering with the opposing team
The first round of football districts, we were killing the other team. Seriously the ending score was 77-22 and we let them score and had out freshman/jv team playing. The other team did not have a crowd, only the cheerleaders. We decided that we would just cheer with the other cheer team for a while during third quarter. It was amazing and everyone loved it. I wish we were able to do that more than once.
8. Concerts. Concerts. Concerts.
I went to several concerts with my best friend and the fact that we live 7 ½ hours away from each other and are unable to go to concerts together hurts my heart. I don’t even want to add up the money we spent on tickets.
That’s only a few of my favorite memories but what I’m really trying to say is, even though I am in love with the University of Oklahoma, I really really miss my friends.
