I think it's safe to say that one of my generation's favorite shows when we were growing up was "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide." It was genuine, hilarious, and had pretty legitimate tips for getting through middle school. If you're like me, you outlived "The Guide" in your middle school career (the show ended in 2007; I graduated eighth grade in 2010). Obviously some of the tips are timeless, such as:
And...
And of course...But once we got into high school, some of the tips weren't applicable to our lives anymore. As much as I loved (love*) watching the show, I wished for the days when these tips actually helped me with my life. If you feel the same as I do (and I know you do), have no fear. Because our prayers have been answered:Devon Werkheiser (you remember him as Ned Bigby) has created a "Life Survival Guide" for us big kids.
The tips are broken down into episodes. The first one, "Choose Your Growth, "is a generalized "life is good" speech. The next, "Work Harder" gets down to business and encourages viewers to not just have dreams but to make them goals. It also has a pretty convincing Shia LaBeouf impression.
felt pretty personal to Werkheiser, but it was a useful tip nonetheless. If you miss "The Guide" as much as I do, then you're going to want to keep up with the latest episodes. A new video comes out every Monday on Werkheiser's YouTube channel, Devon Werkharder. Who knows? Maybe the old cast can help give some tips, too. (Just a thought, Devon.)
