Growing up in the suburbs, safety, being able to ride your bike in a quiet place, and taking walks in the neighborhood are just some of the many things to do in small town. But jumping from suburb living to city living is a totally different experience. Love the city life, but there are just some things suburbs have that cities don't.
1. The stars
As cliché as it may sound, sometimes it's nice to look up from a smartphone at the sky and actually try to find constellations. The little dipper is always above my house and last year I saw a shooting star for the very first time.
2. Seeing familiar faces... everywhere
If you want to be social, go to a grocery store. There's a 99.9-percent chance you'll find someone you know. The 0.1-percent chance is if you go just when the grocery store is about to close.
3. Being able to enjoy the quiet life
Quiet life. 'Nuff said. Moving on.
4. The small town mom and pop shops
5. Actually going to the library because you want to
Remember those things called library cards? I haven't used mine in years.
6. Going to the 24-hour CVS at 9:00 p.m. and the roads are dead
I know what you're thinking: the night life in cities doesn't start 'till 10:00 p.m. I know that. Welcome to Suburbia!
7. Hearing the 'real' nightlife come to life
The joint sounds of crickets, frogs, and other creatures is so relaxing. Something city dwellers wont understand once they hear it.
8. Counting fireflies
What can I say? Those little buggers are just so fascinating!
9. Seeing real wildlife beside squirrels and chipmunks
Turkeys, raccoons, beavers, deer, foxes you name it.
10. Kids playing in the streets
Well...not anymore. Everyone's too busy catching 'em all and playing Pokémon Go.
