I have never been religious. I was not raised in a specific religion. My parents chose to give my sister and me the choice of religion when we were old enough to understand what it is and what it means. But, my sister and I independently chose to stray from committing to a religion.
Myself, well, I don't know what is really out there and I don't know if science can explain it all. And when I heard of this movie coming out, I didn't care that it revolved around religion. I simply thought it looked like a good drama that I would enjoy.
Based on a true story of a family who experienced an unexplained miracle, “Miracles From Heaven” will steal your heart and keep your eyes locked on the screen from the opening scene until the beautiful ending. Starring Jennifer Garner ("13 Going on 30") and Kylie Rogers ("The Whispers") comes a dramatic and heart-wrenching story of a family whose lives were turned upside down when the middle daughter of 3 children gets sick. And not the normal, easy-fix sick.
Anna Beam (character and real life living, breathing miracle) was diagnosed with two rare digestive disorders that have no cure. Her stomach became bloated and she had to be fed from a tube through her nose.
Christy Beam (character and loving, fighting mother) made it her mission to find Anna the best doctors in the world, who happened to reside in Boston, to be on her case. She was willing to do anything to suppress her daughter's pain and find a cure for her deadly disorder.
Near the end of the movie, Anna falls through a five-story hallowed out tree and remained there for hours before firefighters could rescue her. When all hope was lost for the Beam family, it suddenly was regained when Anna's condition healed itself.
Anna explains, "He said I would get better," to her parents and when they ask who, Anna dives into her lucid experience. She saw her own body and walked in her own heaven before God sent her back to live her life the right way: healthy.
Now, I may not believe in a specific God or have knowledge on any kind of religious standpoint, but I do believe in miracles.
Miracles happen, they do. And this movie, based on a real family who experienced a real miracle, just goes to show that miracles are rare, but they renew faith.
Faith is more than just praying to a God, it's also believing in yourself. So, although this movie was totally tear-jerking and warm for the whole family, keep an open mind. Miracles may be a term straight from the bible, but you don't have to be religious to experience a miracle.
Surviving is a miracle. Becoming healthy when resting on your death bed is a miracle. They are unexplained and some people find the explanation in God and religion. But, I find miracles to be a coincidence. I like to put my faith in some things. As far as I know, my grandfathers are watching over me. From Heaven? Maybe. But I feel them with me.
I don't have a specific religion, but I sure do believe miracles can happen. And I hope that a miracle happens for you, I'll be rooting for you.
